Step 1: Heating Water, Brown Sugar, and Granulated Sugar

On medium flame, heat water with the two types of sugar. Once it starts simmering, add the cream of tartar and salt. For the next 8 mins or so, cook it for a low boil. Do not forget to stir the mixture, or it will burn.

Step 2: Adding Butter to The Mixture

Once you have got the desired consistency, remove the mixture from heat. You can add butter to it now and wait for it to melt. Butter adds an exquisite taste to the preparation. 

Step 3: Adding Vanilla and Maple Extract

Add the maple extract and vanilla extract. You can skip the vanilla extract. Let it cool down a bit and serve it. 

Now you have the rich and smooth pancake syrup, ready to be served with your pancakes! People also mix bourbon to it to make it a little boozy!
